What are some use cases of Amazon SNS

I have never use SNS before. So, I want to know some practical uses of Amazon SNS, before I implement it in my project. So what are its use cases? Have any of used it before?

AWS SNS use cases:

• event notification, monitoring applications, workflow systems, time-sensitive information updates

• provides significant advantages to developers who build applications that rely on real-time events.
