Doubt regarding --last-value in sqoop while importing

Hi. I am new to Sqoop and going through import commands. My doubt is What to mention --last-value while you are importing for the first time?

I think you are a little confused. The --last-value option is used while updating the tables and not while importing. I think you are trying to ask about incremental append.  --last-value is not used in sqoop import so the argument itself is not required if you are not using incremental append.
